Prototyping & Sample Making
PROTOTYPING – Public Thread takes your design, or design idea, and work with you to create a prototype. We’ll make changes and get it to where you want it. This process could take weeks or months depending on a number of factors.
SAMPLE MAKING — Once the prototype is final, Public Thread will make a sample with the fabric, notions (labels, buttons, zippers, thread snaps, etc.) that you want in your final product. We’ll continue to tweak until it’s right and from there you can move into planning for production.
Small Batch Production
Welcome to our favorite stage! Production is when we move into cutting and sewing your designs to make them a reality. We can make just a few items in a run to several hundred at a time. Public Thread has experienced sewers that are paid living wages and honored for their artistry to take raw materials and create your products. We have a variety of equipment and tools to meet your production needs. If you are ready to make things right here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, so are we!
Textile & Fabric Upcycling
Public Thread is utilizing traditional and non-traditional textiles to create new products that are both useful and divert materials from being thrown away in our landfills. If you have materials that could be re-purposed or re-used please contact Public Thread at 616.745.1222.
